Coconut Lip Balm

Aquarian Bath’s Description:

“My coconut lip balm was made with Organic Virgin Coconut oil, Castor oil and vegan Candelilla Wax. It smells lightly of sweet coconut from the high grade Organic Virgin Coconut oil base. Castor oil helps protect the lips by sealing in moisture and making the balm last for a long time on the lips. Your balm comes neatly packed in an easy to open 0.25 oz container. Compare this with tube containers which are not reusable and are only 0.15 oz.”

My Description & Thoughts:

Love how simple thing lip balm is. No extra junk, no unrecognizable ingredients–just the good stuff.

I believe this lip balm is so effective because of those rich ingredients. When applied, it forms a nearly impenetrable layer on your lips that last for hours. This is the perfect balm to have on hand as the colder months are approaching and skin starts to dry out.

I actually use this balm three different ways:

-lip balm

-use on the dry areas around my nose

-use on cuticles to avoid getting “dry winter fingers”

Coconut oil is the single best oil I’ve ever experienced as a carrier oil for soaps and balms because of how well it moisturizes skin and KEEPS it moisturized. I do wish the castor oil and wax in this balm were organic. That said, if you take a look at a stick of drug-store bought lip chap, you will quickly realize that Aquarian’s simple ingredient list easily beats the junk found in those products. So, if you’re looking for an improvement from the balm you’ve used for years, this product is it.

I like the detail of the packaging, too, and how it is different that the stick/tube packaging that’s most common.

Lavender Cedarwood Deodorant Balm

Aquarian Bath’s Description:

“This is a natural deodorant balm in a 1.5 oz container. It was made with Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), Organic Cocoa Butter, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Arrow Root Powder, Candelilla Wax, and Vitamin E and a woody herbaceous blend of Lavender and Cedarwood essential oils. This is a vegan deodorant.  I have found it lasts all day long and even into the next day.  I have previously tried using powdered deodorant formulations made by others with baking soda and have found them to be irritating.  This balm form helps balance the baking soda with conditioning Cocoa Butter and Olive oil.  A small percentage of people may experience allergy or irritation from the baking soda.  If you would like to test this deodorant in a smaller container before using it, sample size is also available.  Please discontinue using any product that may be causing you an allergic reaction.”

My Description & Thoughts:

Finding a deodorant free of “junk” has been one of my biggest missions in my quest to implement organic products in every facet of my life. I am always intrigued when I see that a brand makes a deodorant. I was eager to try this one out during my sweaty runs and workouts.

This deodorant works very well. I would give this deodorant an all out 5 star rating if all of the oils and ingredients were organic, because that’s always my gold standard. The balm is rich and thick and withstands a lot of perspiration and body odor. I was very pleased with how it performed.

I apply the mixture to my arm pits by scooping it out of the jar with my fingers, which leaves a bit of excess balm on my hands. I typically just rub that on to my stomach or give my hands a quick wash to remedy the minor mess.

The lavender and cedarwood scents are flowery and earthy. I’d recommend this scent combo for women. Aquarian makes several other scents of deodorant (tea tree, spearmint, unisex) so that surely anyone could find a scent they like.

Mosquito Repellent Spray

Aquarian Bath’s Description:

“This is a natural Mosquito Repellent balm in a 4 oz PET spray bottle. The active ingredients are essential oils of Lemongrass, Rosemary, Spearmint and Catnip. These oils are in a base of ultra-light Fractionated Coconut oil. This formula has been tested against Mosquitos here in Central Florida with good results. It was also tested by a Chinese Medicine practitioner in Alberta Canada with good results.”

My Description & Thoughts:

My family does a lot of outdoor walks and hikes in our free time. There have been times during the warmer months that when a bug spray would have gotten a lot of use. This product was a perfect fit for us.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record– I’ll say, again, that this product would be tops in my book if all of the ingredients were organic. Organic ingredients and effectiveness are the two characteristics that make up the ideal product for me. This bug spray is part of the way there. The combination of essential oils used in this spray combat pesky bugs very well and is not goopy on skin. You can also feel good about using this spray with your children, as the ingredients are recognizable and plant-based, whereas your typical bug spray is chock full of harmful chemicals (surprise, surprise).

I’d recommend this bug spray to another active, outdoorsy family that has a need for such a product. I keep our bottle in our Camelbak backpack when we hike, as it’s a great, portable size to tote around.
